Former India teammates Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar had a hilarious choice of words while talking about Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir getting back on good terms last night.

The Delhi-based duo, who have played a lot of cricket together in the Indian team, were seen giving side hugs to each other and exchanging a few words which looked highly positive.

After Kolkata Knight Riders‘ skipper Shreyas Iyer had won the toss and asked Royal Challengers Bengaluru to bat first, the hosts got off to a mixed start.

While Virat Kohli was continuing the form he picked up during RCB’s previous game against Punjab Kings, Faf du Plessis had got out cheaply yet again, this time for 8 in the last ball of 2nd over.

Then Virat Kohli partnered with number 3 batter Cameron Green to steady the ship with the duo scoring 60+ runs by the end of the powerplay. Right before the 7th over started, KKR called for a strategic timeout and that saw Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s mentor come into the field to have a word with the bowlers.

Before Gambhir addressed the KKR bowlers, he was seen shaking hands with Kohli before giving him a side hug and a few taps on his back, probably for the way he was batting.

What did Shastri and Gavaskar have to say after seeing Virat Kohli and Gambhir get back on positive terms?

Both Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar were present in the commentary box when this incident unfolded. None of us were expecting to see Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir hugging, smiling, or conversing with each other, especially after what had transpired in the last edition. It will be fair to say that Shastri and Gavaskar, too, were taken aback when Kohli and Gambhir finished their beef once and for all.

It was Ravi Shastri who started by highlighting that the crowd went pin-drop silence after witnessing the sight before claiming that KKR should be handed the Fairplay award. “Oh, good to see Gautam Gambhir-Virat Kohli. The crowd went quiet though. Fairplay award to KKR for this hug between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir.” – Shastri said on-air.

Then his co-commentator Sunil Gavaskar jumped in and exaggerated the moment by saying that they also deserve an Oscar award, unsure as to why, but maybe for their acting skills. “Not only a fair play award, but also an Oscar award.” – Gavaskar followed up Shastri’s comments.

Virat Kohli claims Orange Cap but KKR won by 7-wickets

Following the hug from Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli accelerated his innings and went on to remain in the crease until the last ball of 1st innings. The 35-year-old smacked his second consecutive fifty last night and followed up the form he picked up against Punjab when he had scored 77 off 49.

And last night in front of home support at the Chinnaswamy, Virat Kohli smacked 83 off 59, taking his tally to 181 runs from 3 matches. However, his knock could not help RCB to continue with their winning ways as KKR’s batting unit finished off the match within the 17th over to go second in the points table.

Former Australia cricketer and 2016-IPL winning head coach with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Tom Moody had a harsh choice of words for RCB batters who did not support Virat Kohli. The Indian batting stalwart acted like the last man standing for the South-Indian franchise in the 1st innings last night against Kolkata Knight Riders.
