Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill lost his cool over a wide call in the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Shubman Gill opted to bowl first after winning the toss and his team made a good start with the ball. Umesh Yadav dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for 24 before Rashid Khan dismissed the dangerous Jos Buttler for 8 to leave the hosts reeling at 42 for 2 inside the powerplay.
However, it has pretty much one-way traffic since then as GT failed to pick up the third wicket. At the time of writing this report, RR were on 162 for 2 after 18 overs with the stand between Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson now worth 120 runs.
With not much going GT's way, Shubman Gill lost his composure when a wide call also went against his team. The incident took place in the 17th over bowled by Mohit Sharma. The final delivery of the over was called a wide by the on-field umpire.
Mohit Sharma bowled a slower delivery outside the off stump. Sanju Samson went for the shot but failed to make any contact with the ball. The ball passed just below the toe-end of his bat. After the on-field umpire called it a wide, Shubman Gill decided to opt for the DRS.
At first, the third umpire said that since Samson moved across, the line moved as well. As a result, he adjudged it a non-wide delivery. However, the third umpire immediately changed his decision and asked the on-field umpire to stay with his original decision of wide.
The entire drama did not go down well with Shubman Gill and he decided to have a chat with the umpire. The GT skipper looked absolutely furious as he vented his frustration over the third umpire's call. However, it did not make much of a difference and the ball was eventually adjudged a wide ball.
