Karnataka-born batsman Manish Pandey, who became the first Indian batsman to score a century in the Indian Premier League, thanked MS Dhoni for always being there. While speaking in an exclusive chat with Sportskeeda, Pandey made this claim along with a few more admissions about his sudden downfall, his poor form in the last two IPLs, and if he can stage a return to the Indian team.

Therein, Manish Pandey was also asked to shed light on the kind of inspiration and impact that MS Dhoni has had in his career. Pandey, who made his India debut under his captaincy, had nothing but words of praise for the 2007 T20 and 2011 50-over World Cup-winning skipper.

Manish Pandey expresses great admiration for MS Dhoni

Manish Pandey reflected that he has an enormous amount of admiration for MS Dhoni who shockingly relinquished Chennai Super Kings captaincy yesterday. It will be for the 2nd time since the 2022 season that Thala has left captaincy in order to shape up a new leader for the 5-time champions who can carry on the legacy Dhoni built.

It’s not that easy to be admired by almost every personality in the world cricketing fraternity. But for someone like MS Dhoni who has gone through trials and tribulations and then went on to experience the golden period of his life, it is obvious for him to be admired.

Manish Pandey further stated that he shares a very special bond with MSD and that the former India captain has been there every time he has needed him. He was also asked to speak about him still going strong at the age of 42 and that to that, Pandey said that he has a great level of fitness and that he won’t be surprised if Thala plays a few more seasons for CSK.

Lastly, the right-hand batter expressed his delight to be able to meet MS Dhoni in this year’s IPL when Chennai Super Kings lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders.

“I’ve great admiration for Mahi bhai. I have played with him and I share a special bond with him. He’s been there every time we needed somebody to talk to. And the kind of fitness Mahi bhai has had, I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays for a couple more years. It’ll be very good for the game and I’m looking forward to meeting him this time,” Manish Pandey said via Sportskeeda.
