Axar Patel won the ‘Player Of The Match’ award in the third and final T20 International match of the 3-match T20I series between India National Cricket Team and New Zealand National Cricket Team at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Sunday, November 21.
Winning the toss and batting first captain Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan provided an excellent start and added brilliant 69 runs. In the end, lower-order batters Harshal Patel and Deepak Chahar played sensational cameo knocks and helped India post the target of 185 for the Black Caps.
Chasing the target Martin Guptill was looking incredible out in middle and he even scored a half-century. However, other than him no batsmen were able to leave an impact. In the end, New Zealand were bundled at 111 and lost the match by 73 runs and the series by 3-0.

Axar Patel bagged three wickets from his 3 overs quota and gave away only 9 runs he was able to dismiss Daryl Mitchell, Mark Chapman and Glenn Phillips.
During the post-match presentation, Axar Patel said that previously he used to bowl quicker when he used to get smashed by the batters. However, now he tries to vary his pace and it has helped him a lot. He stated:
“Earlier when I got hit, I used to bowl quicker and quicker. Now I try to vary my pace. I try to stay a step ahead of the batter about what he’s trying to do.”
Axar Patel also revealed that he was getting a lot of help from the Eden Gardens surface. He said:
“There was help in this wicket. The ball was stopping. So I just tried hitting good areas because the wicket had some help.”
Axar Patel further added that he wants to take this confidence forward in the upcoming games and signed off by talking about his exceptional performance in the home series against England earlier this year where he picked 27 wickets. He asserted:
“Want to take this confidence forward. Obviously, If you take 27 wickets in a series, you feel like you can do anything (Tests against Eng).
