Tom Latham-led New Zealand National Cricket Team lost the second Test match of the two-match Test series against Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team by 372 runs at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday, December 6.

Original captain of New Zealand National Cricket Team Kane Williamson suffered an elbow injury before the second Test match against India and as a result, Tom Latham was given the responsibility to lead the team in the second Test and things didn’t go well for Kiwi skipper in the match.

New Zealand captain Tom Latham during the post-match presentation said that it was a disappointing performance from the team and he lauded India for putting up a great performance in the Mumbai Test. He said:

“A disappointing performance from us. Credit to India for putting up a great performance. 62 all-out would always have set us back.”

Kiwi skipper Latham said that New Zealand wanted to bat first at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai because the surface becomes “worse for batting” with the time. He said:

You always want to bat first here, and it only gets worse for batting, and it wasn’t how we wanted it to pan out.”

“Guys are able to step up in different conditions and we have managed to get a lot of depth,’ he added.

Skipper Tom Latham also showered praise on spinner Ajaz Patel who created history after becoming the third player to bag all 10 wickets in an innings. Latham stated:

” Very special game for Ajaz, only the third time in the history of the game has a man got all ten.”

Tom Latham signed off by saying they have to play the series against Bangladesh when they get back home and they will start preparations for that ASAP. He stated:

“We’re going to play Bangladesh after we get back home and we’re going to start preparation for that series ASAP.”
