Rohit Sharma as the new permanent T20I captain and Rahul Dravid will start their era and here is India’s predicted playing XI for the first T20I against New Zealand.

IND vs NZ 2021: India’s Predicted Playing XI For The First T20I:
Rohit Sharma(C):
Rohit Sharma will definitely be the first name on the team sheet as the skipper of the side and he has been in good form in the last few games of the T20 World cup 2021. He has some staggering records for India in the format and he will have the opportunity to make up for the failure against New Zealand in the Super 12 stages as well.
KL Rahul:
KL Rahul has been picked as the vice-captain of the Indian side for the T20 internationals and it won’t be too long until he takes on the captaincy. The right-hander has been in prolific touch despite India’s early exit in the T20 World cup 2021 super 12 stages and apart from the two failures in the games against Pakistan and New Zealand, Rahul has been brilliant at the top.
Suryakumar Yadav:
Suryakumar Yadav wasn’t at his best in the T20 World cup 2021 for India and could have done better in the game against Pakistan. He has shown signs of inconsistency in recent times and might have to see that he sticks to his place in the playing XI. The right-hander might get his opportunity at number three with Virat Kohli being rested and he should use his chances.
Rishabh Pant(WK):
Rishabh Pant will be the first choice keeper for India in the first T20 internationals at least and the left-hander has done well at times. He has made batting look tougher and he will be looking to get some runs under his belt in this series against New Zealand. His wicket-keeping has come good and he will have competition from the likes of Ishan Kishan as well.
Shreyas Iyer:
Shreyas Iyer has made a comeback into the Indian side after a six-month injury back and he was part of the reserves in the T20 World cup 2021. He is likely to be picked up in the playing XI for the first game considering that he has done well in the middle order for India until he got injured. The right-hander will be looking to be back with a bang in the series against New Zealand.

Venkatesh Iyer:
Venkatesh Iyer will play the role of an all-rounder in the side for India and he can be a sixth bowling option which has been a big demand. The left-hander has been awarded for the brilliant performances in the IPL for the Kolkata Knight Riders side and he becomes the backup option for Hardik Pandya. He can bat at the top and give an extra addition to the bowling department.
Axar Patel:
Axar Patel is going to be an automatic choice in the playing XI as he will be the like-to-like backup for Ravindra Jadeja who is rested for the series. The left-arm spinner was part of the reserves in the T20 World cup 2021 and he has been brilliant in IPL for the Delhi Capitals. He should make it to the playing XI ahead of Harshal Patel.
Deepak Chahar:
Deepak Chahar was part of the reserves in the T20 World cup 2021 and he deserves a place in the playing XI against New Zealand. He has some good numbers in T20 internationals for India and has been very consistent for India and for Chennai Super Kings in the last three editions for IPL. India needs a swing bowler who can take wickets up front and he should feature in the playing XI.
R Ashwin:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will probably lead the Indian bowling attack with a lot of inexperienced bowlers around and he will likely be the first choice option. He was dropped after the first game against Pakistan as he turned out to be ineffective in the powerplay as well as death overs. He hasn’t been at his very best yet and needs a turnaround in the New Zealand series to keep his place in the side.
Yuzvendra Chahal:
Yuzvendra Chahal was very unlucky to have been left out of the Indian T20 World cup 2021 squad despite being the number one limited-overs spinner for India in the last three to four years. He had a tough time at the start of this year but did manage to make a comeback for RCB in the UAE phase. He is likely to get a nod ahead of Rahul Chahar who has shown a slump in form.
