New Zealand batsman Rachin Ravindra heaped praises for India’s head coach Rahul Dravid and called him an absolute legend of the game. The Kiwi player also mentioned that he has played a little bit of cricket against Dravid a couple of years ago. Rachin Ravindra is part of New Zealand‘s squad in the ongoing IND vs NZ 2021 series.
Rachin Ravindra also played in the IND vs NZ 1st T20 match on Wednesday (Nov 17). The left-handed batsman scored 7 runs off 8 balls that included one boundary. However, he could not go big and lost his wicket to Mohammed Siraj, who bowled him with a length delivery in the final over of the first innings.
Rahul Dravid Is An Absolute Legend: Rachin Ravindra
While speaking during the press conference, the 22-year-old youngster called Rahul Dravid an absolute legend, while adding that he would love to interact with him a little bit more during the ongoing IND vs NZ 2021 series.
“Dravid is an absolute legend in the game and I played a bit of cricket against him when he was coaching in India A and a few series a couple of years ago when he came to New Zealand. He was coaching those guys and the India U-19 team.
“So it’s just awesome to interact with them a little bit. Obviously, I’d love to interact a little bit more during this series, but he’s an absolute legend in the game. So if I could pick his brains it would be amazing”, Rachin Ravindra said.
Rachin Ravindra, who also bowls slow-left arm orthodox, talked about playing in India. He asserted that the ongoing series is very special for him. He also heaped praises on Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, calling him a world-class bowler.
“All sorts of nations always want to get a chance to play in India and I think it’s been a pretty surreal experience so far. This T20 is very special. They’ve been doing it for a really long time. They’re world-class spinners, especially Ashwin.
“He’s got an incredible record and he’s been around for a long time and the variations are incredible. Personally, I have not been in touch and would love to pick his brains any time,” Rachin Ravindra further said.
Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team. He made a good start to his role after India defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets in the first T20I game. India, led by their new T20I skipper Rohit Sharma, managed to chase down the 165-run target set by New Zealand in the match. Now, both the teams will lock horns in the 2nd T20I, scheduled to take place on November (19) in Ranchi.
