Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar reckoned that Rahul Dravid had always lent security to the Indian batting order as a batter. Now, he expects him to do the same now in a different brole. Rohit Sharma was recently made the new Indian T20I captain replacing Virat Kohli, who stepped down citing personal reasons, and this will be the first assignment for Rahul Dravid as the head coach.

Both Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have been very succesful in their careers, and Rohit is seen as the next captain for the limited-overs format because of his excellent Stints in IPL. Sunil Gavaskar Feels Rahul Dravid Will Ensure Safety And Strength

Rahul Dravid has always been a patient and a solid batsman at the crease who doesn’t throw away his wicket easily, and he always gives a sense of calmness when he is at the crease. Sunil Gavaskar felt that quality will continue while he is in the head coach role as well.

“When he used to play, we used to think that till Rahul Dravid is at the crease, the Indian batting is safe and strong.

“This is the reason why I believe that the new responsibility of head coach that falls upon him, he will be able to handle it in a similar way,” Gavaskar said in Star Sports Follow the Blues show.

Their Bond Will Be Quite Good – Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar noted that the similarities in both Dravid and Rohit in terms of their temperaments and was confident that they will share a great bond with each other.

“If you look at both of their temperaments, they are quite similar. Rohit is of a quiet nature, just like Rahul Dravid.

So I think their bond will be quite good because both of them will understand each other well,” Gavaskar added.

Rohit Sharma has captained India in limited-overs cricket in the past in the absence of Kohli, and he has a terrific record.
