It was another completely dominant home Test win for India in Mumbai as they thumped New Zealand by 372 runs to clinch the series 1-0 after the visitors had shown great fight to draw the Kanpur Test.
Virat Kohli had won the toss and elected to bat first on Day 1. For the first two days it was a two-man show as Mayank Agarwal continued his terrific home record with a brilliant 150 while Ajaz Patel created history by becoming only the third bowler to take 10 wickets in a Test innings, bowling India out for 325.

New Zealand, in reply, were bundled out for just 62; Mohammed Siraj blew away the Kiwi top-order with three strikes in his first spell before the spinners took over to annihilate the visitors.
Agarwal once again led the way in the second innings with a fifty. Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara scored 47 each before Axar Patel’s quick-fire 41 off 26 balls took India to 276/7, when the hosts declared and set New Zealand an insurmountable target of 540.

Daryl Mitchell was New Zealand’s best batsman in the second innings, scoring an entertaining 60-run knock while Henry Nicholls scored a gritty 44. R Ashwin and Jayant Yadav bagged 4 wickets each in the second innings to wrap up the game in the first hour of Day 4.
