IND vs NZ: Doug Bracewell Comes In For The Injured Matt Henry For The ODI Series In India

Doug Bracewell of New Zealand has been called up to replace the injured Matt Henry in the ODI squads for India and Pakistan.

Bracewell, who has 68 international caps to his name, most recently appeared in the home ODI series against the Netherlands last April, according to a media release issued by New Zealand Cricket on Sunday.

On the final day of the second Test in Karachi, Henry suffered an abdominal strain and was forced to withdraw from the white-ball series against Pakistan and India.

Two to four weeks of rest and recovery are necessary for the fast bowler, who is 31 years old.

Bracewell, who has 68 international appearances, took part in the ODI series against the Netherlands at home in April. In domestic cricket, the 32-year-old has been in strong bat and ball form. On Wednesday, he’ll get to Pakistan.

Tim Southee has been replaced by pace bowler Jacob Duffy for the India tour. After their three-match ODI series against Pakistan ends on January 13, the team will depart for India.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead claimed Doug Bracewell was a like-for-like substitute for Henry in the ODI team.

“Doug Bracewell is a quality bowler with a lot of experience and we feel his skills best complement the bowling mix we already have in the squads for Pakistan and India,” Stead told New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Monday.

“He has experience across all three formats at the international level, has experience in the subcontinent, and has already shown his range of skills this season” Gary Stead Added.

Revised New Zealand ODI squad for India: Tom Latham (captain), Finn Allen, Doug Bracewell, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Santner, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, and Blair Tickner.
