Indian Cricket Team would be keen to seal the ODI Series against New Zealand on the 21st of January (Sunday). The Men in Blue got a reality check in the 1st ODI where Michael Bracewell almost pulled off a heist. All eyes would be on Shubman Gill, who struck a terrific double century.

New Zealand needs to find someone apart from Tom Latham who could anchor the innings and play long & effective innings for the team. The management should consider promoting Glenn Phillips up the order as he can take the opposition by surprise.

Sanjay Bangar on Shubman Gill

Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Shubman Gill. “I am not so sure as yet because obviously there is one batter (Ishan Kishan) who is a left-hander who has also done that feat not too long ago. Again very similar in the age group category, he is 24 and Shubman is 23,” said Sanjay Bangar.

“A great thing for Indian cricket because what it does actually is that it sort of narrows down your choices to maybe possibly now that out of those three, two will certainly open for the Indian team in the 50-over World Cup,” he added.

Great Chance for India

The Men in Blue would be well aware of the fact that Kiwis don’t have a strong middle order. The skipper Rohit Sharma should not make the mistake of holding back Kuldeep Yadav as the left-arm chinaman may be expensive but has the knack of picking huge wickets for the team.

The skipper Rohit Sharma would be keen to convert the starts as we have seen in Sri Lanka ODIs as well that the batter couldn’t capitalize on the starts. Given the fact that Suryakumar Yadav doesn’t have an encouraging record, the batter needs some big runs to make a case for himself in the ODI WC 2023.
