The 29-year-old India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who is the deputy of Rohit Sharma in ODIs, has said that his body is feeling better with each passing match.

Pandya has faced a lot of fitness issues in recent times. However, he worked very hard on his fitness and is getting back into shape to deliver impactful performances consistently for India in all three departments in white-ball cricket.

Speaking after New Zealand’s innings in the second ODI at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Saturday, January 21, Hardik Pandya said that he is getting used to bowling in 50-over cricket once again. He also talked about his exceptional one-handed return catch to dismiss Devon Conway.

“A brilliant day to be honest, we used the wicket rightly and everything went well for us. I am just getting used to bowling in ODIs again. That wasn’t bad at all (on the return catch), my body is feeling better with every match, it’s coming on nicely and timely as well,” he said.

Hardik Pandya further said that the bowlers bowled in the right areas and kept testing the Kiwi batters.

“We hit the right areas, kept testing the batters, one of those days when the edges went to the fielders and we grabbed the catches,” he stated.

Indian bowlers performed brilliantly in the second ODI and bundled out the Kiwis for just 108. Mohammed Shami bagged a three-wicket haul while Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar bagged two wickets each. Also, Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one wicket each.

Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, felt that more runs could have been scored on the surface. He added that the batters will make a decision on how will they approach the run-chase.

“This isn’t a 108-run wicket, but we took all our chances, Let the batters decide on how to bat, at the end of the day, it’s their call on how to chase this down,” he said.
