Indian Cricket Team registered a nervy 6 wicket win over New Zealand in the 2nd T20I match. The Men in Blue would be quite pleased as they restricted New Zealand to 99 runs. India brought back Yuzvendra Chahal into the playing 11 and dropped Umran Malik. Chahal took a wicket in his 2 overs spell & gave away 4 runs.

New Zealand batters didn’t try to use their feet against spinners. The Black Caps would sense that other 30-odd runs would have made the contest an exciting one. Mitchell Santner was the highest run scorer where he scored an unbeaten 19 runs in 23 balls and struck a boundary.

Gautam Gambhir on Yuzvendra Chahal

Gautam Gambhir was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Yuzvendra Chahal. “Chahal is your No.1 spinner in the T20 format. Asking him to bowl only two overs where he got the wicket of Finn Allen and not using his quota of four overs makes no sense to me. Yes you want to give chances to young guys line Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Mavi. But then you could have bowled Chahal in the last or second-last over.” said Gautam Gambhir.

“For me, Hardik missed a trick as Chahal could have helped India bowl New Zealand for around 80-85. On this kind of a wicket, you don’t want to let the opposition off the hook. But then again, I was surprised after Deepak Hooda was asked to bowl four overs and not Chahal.” he added.

Exciting Contest on Cards

The 3rd T20I match at Ahmedabad promises to be an exciting one. New Zealand would be keen to take the revenge of the 2022 T20I Series defeat. The Black Caps want Mark Chapman to score runs as the left-handed batter has looked in all sorts of trouble.

There are chances that India may bring back Umran Malik into the playing 11 as the speedster has the knack of thrashing the opponent. As mentioned by Gautam Gambhir, Deepak Hooda bowled 4 overs; it won’t be a surprise if one of Kuldeep & Chahal are rested for the decider.
