Chahal came to bowl his first over in the 4th over of the innings and delivered a brilliant wicket-maiden. He dismissed the explosive Kiwi opener Allen on the 3rd ball of the over.
Chahal bowled a good length ball to Allen pitching outside off-stump and the Kiwi opening batsman tried to play a reverse sweep. However, he missed his shot badly and the ball hit him on the back leg before ricocheting onto the stumps. Allen scored 11 runs off 10 balls, including 2 fours, before being cleaned up.

Yuzvendra Chahal replaced Umran Malik in India’s playing XI in the do-or-die T20I against the BlackCaps to join his wrist-spin bowling partner Kuldeep Yadav.
“Umran misses out, Yuzi comes in. The KulCha is back, a lot of people wanted to see, they are wicket-takers,” India National Cricket Team captain Hardik Pandya said at the toss.
Heading into the match, Chahal was India’s joint-highest wicket-taker in the 20-over cricket alongside Bhuvneshwar Kumar with 90 wickets in his bag.
With the wicket of Allen in his first over itself in the second T20I, Chahal surpassed Bhuvneshwar’s tally to become the leading wicket-taker for India in the shortest international format of the game.
