The 23-year-old India National Cricket Team left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh bowled a terrible 20th over in the T20I series opener against New Zealand National Cricket Team and fans on Twitter were extremely upset with the young pacer for his poor bowling.

The JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi is hosting the T20I series opener of the three-match series between the Hardik Pandya-led India National Cricket Team and the Mitchell Santner-led New Zealand National Cricket Team on Friday, January 27.

Arshdeep Singh had a pretty forgettable day in the first T20I against New Zealand. Throughout his 4-over spell, the left-arm seamer looked low on confidence and bowled some really poor lines and lengths.

In his first two overs in the powerplay, Arshdeep Singh conceded 22 runs combined. He then came to bowl the death overs. In the 18th over of the innings, the left-arm seamer delivered a sensational over, picking up the huge wicket of Devon Conway and conceding just 2 runs.

The 31-year-old Kiwi opener scored 52 runs off 35 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six, and the power-hitter Michael Bracewell also got run out for 1 in the same over.

Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh had an awful time bowling the final over to Daryl Mitchell as he got smashed for three consecutive sixes after bowling a no-ball on the first delivery itself. Notably, overstepping has always been an issue with the youngster and since 2022, Arshdeep has bowled 15 front-foot no-balls in T20Is.

After conceding back-to-back sixes, Arshdeep gave away 8 runs in the rest of the over to finish the over with 27 runs. Overall, he had the figures of 4 -0-51-1 in the innings. It was the second time Arshdeep Singh went for 50-plus runs in a T20I match.

Talking about unwanted records, Arshdeep Singh became the Indian bowler with the most runs conceded in the 20th over of the innings. He surpassed Suresh Raina’s 26-run over, which came in 2012 against South Africa.

Arshdeep’s 27-run over is the third most runs conceded by an Indian bowler in an over in T20Is, he is only behind Shivam Dube’s 34-run over and Stuart Binny’s 32-run over. Also, Arshdeep Singh has become the first-ever Indian bowler to concede 25-plus runs in an over twice in T20Is.
