Andre Russell is a West Indies cricketer who has represented his national team in all three formats of the game in international cricket.

In the West Indies' domestic circuit, he represents his country Jamaica while in the Indian Premier League, he has been playing for Kolkata Knight Riders since 2014.

Before joining Kolkata, he also played for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for two seasons in the IPL.

Andre Russell's IPL career got underway in 2012 when he earned his maiden contract. Andre Russell's first IPL team is the Delhi Capitals. In his debut IPL season, Russell played just 4 games and scored 47 runs in addition to picking up any wicket. In 2013, he played only 3 games, scoring 11 runs and going wicketless with the ball.

After Delhi Capitals released him, he was signed up by Kolkata Knight Riders and has been playing for them since then. At Kolkata Knight Riders, Russell established himself as one of the best T20 all-rounders in the tournament.

In his very first season with KKR, he won the IPL although he played just two games that season. With time, Russell became an indispensable part of the KKR outfit.

He finally announced his arrival in the IPL in 2015, scoring 326 runs and taking 14 wickets. He won the Player of the Match award thrice that season and was also adjudged the MVP of the season.

In IPL 2016, Russell scored only 188 runs but went on to pick 15 wickets. Russell enjoyed his best season with the bat in 2019 when he scored 510 runs at an average of more than 55 and strike rate of 200-plus. His best season with the ball came in IPL 2024 when he picked up 19 wickets and helped KKR win the IPL after 10 years.

Andre Russell's auction price in 2012 auction was INR 2.2 crores. Later in 2014, KKR bought him for INR 6 crores. Since then, Andre Russell's IPL salary has only moved upwards.  In 2018, KKR retained him for INR 8.5 crores. In 2022, KKR once again retained the allrounder for INR 12 crores.

Andre Russell has been one of the most decorated all-rounders in the history of IPL. He has made a big impact with both bat and ball so far.

In 126 games, Russell has scored 2484 runs with the help of 11 half-centuries. He averages 29.22 and has a strike-rate of 174.93 with the bat. With the ball, Russell has picked up 115 wickets.

• Russell is the first player to take four wickets in an over in the IPL, achieving the feat against Gujarat Titans in 2022.
• Among players who have faced a minimum of 500 deliveries in the IPL, Russell has the best strike rate. He has a strike rate of 174.93. No other player has managed to even reach the 170 mark so far.
• Russell is also the quickest to 1000 runs and 50 wickets in the IPL, reaching the milestone in just 57 games.
• Russell is the only player to score more than 300 runs and take more than 10 wickets in an IPL season four times.
