PSL 2023: Watch – Shadab Khan Calls Himself A Minister of ‘King Babar’ After Journalist Addresses Babar Azam as Former Skipper

Shadab Khan-led Islamabad United lost the Eliminator 1 match to Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi in PSL 2023. During the post-match conference, a journalist asked Shadab Khan how he felt after losing to the former Pakistan captain. To this, Shadab Khan interrupted and said that Babar Azam is still Pakistan’s skipper.

Shadab Khan is going to lead Pakistan in the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan. Skipper Babar Azam is rested for the three-match series. Some other seniors like Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan have also been rested for the series while many youngsters have been picked by PCB.

Watch: Babar Azam is Still Pakistan Skipper, Says Shadab Khan

During the post-match conference, a journalist referred to Babar Azam as the former captain and Shadab Khan as the current captain. Listening to this, Khan pointed out that Babar Azam is still Pakistan’s captain and he is just going to lead in one series as Azam is on rest.

“He was the captain and he won. Babar is still our current captain and our chairman also told you guys that he is the captain of the team. Just that he is resting, so I have stepped in. When the King is not there, the minister has to step in, just like that),” Shadab Khan said. Have a look at the video below.

Meanwhile, Babar Azam’s side Peshawar Zalmi defeated Islamabad United by 12 runs in the Eliminator 1 match of PSL 2023. As a result, Islamabad United have been eliminated from the tournament. Peshawar Zalmi will now face Lahore Qalandars in the Eliminator 2 match and the winner will book a berth in the final.

Multan Sultans have already qualified for PSL 2023 final. They defeated Lahore Qalandars by 84 runs in the Qualifier game to reserve their spot in the final. PSL 2023 will take place on March 18 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
