Watch: Short tempered Sohail Khan costs his team four runs in PSL 2024 match

Quetta Gladiators pacer Sohail Khan was at the center of huge criticism as the bowler cost his team four runs against Karachi Kings. The Gladiators won the last-ball thriller but that did not prevent the pacer from hogging the limelight.
Bowling to Kiwi wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert in the third over the Pakistan pacer was hit for a six and a four. Visibly frustrated, Sohail Khan banged the ball halfway on the pitch and the ball went for a boundary four as keeper Sarfaraz Khan was not able to stop the ball with the pace that it went.
Former Pakistan cricketer Bazid Khan who was in commentary said “This is almost typical Sohail Khan. Throughout his career, he has a short fuse”. Seeing the ball go to the boundary. Sohail Khan was on his heels and had a dejected face.

Karachi Kings had scored 165/8 in their 20 overs. The team kept losing wickets at regular intervals but ensured they scored a competitive total. James Vincetop-scored with 37. There were contributions from Mohammad Nawaz (25) and Anwar Ali (25) as well. Sohail Khan bowled an expensive spell of none for 26. Akeal Hosein picked up two wickets while spinner Abrar Ahmed picked up 3/31. Off-spinner Usman Tariq picked up 2/16.

The Quetta Gladiators won the match off the last ball with Sherfane Rutherford scoring an unbeaten 58 off 31 balls. With him was Akeal Hosein unbeaten on 22 off 17 balls. Jason Roy scored 52 and along with Sud Shakeel (24 off 20) added 57 for the first wicket.
The Gladiators needed 15 off the last over with Rutherford taking matters into his own hands. Anwar Ali was the bowler and the southpaw hit him for a six off the very first ball.
He was banged for another six off the second ball. From three from three, the Pakistan pacer bowled two dot deliveries. The equation then came down to 1 off 1 with Rutherford hitting a four to win the match for Quetta Gladiators.
The final few overs were full of tension and the match saw a classic finish. The Gladiators have now won four games from the five they played taking them to the second position on the table. Karachi Kings are placed fifth with just two wins from five matches. Lahore Qalandars the defending champions are yet to open their account.
“It’s never easy, coming in and playing shots from the get-go. I try my best, sometimes it doesn’t happen but I will try my best to make it happen more. Me and Shane (Watson) had a conversation about the mental part of the game, he told me to focus on the moment and stay as calm as possible” said Sharfane Rutherford who was named the Men of the Match.
Karachi Kings skipper Shan Masood lamented not to defend the total and put down easy chances on the field. Before the start of the game. 13 players from the franchise fell ill due to food poisoning. One player was hospitalized in critical condition. However, the management found a way to field an XI for the match against Quetta Gladiators but unfortunately, they lost.
