Karachi Kings’ captain Shan Masood recently broke his silence on the heated exchange with Shadab Khan during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 match. Shan Masood described Shadab Khan as one of his close friends, insisting there were no hard feelings.
During a PSL match in Rawalpindi on Thursday, March 7, a tense exchange occurred between Shadab Khan, Islamabad United’s captain, and Shan Masood. The disagreement arose from Shadab Khan’s involvement in a caught-behind review against Agha Salman.

Shadab Khan expressed concerns about the Decision Review System’s (DRS) time limit, leading to a dispute with the Karachi Skipper. Shan Masood asserted his authority over the review process, instructing the all-rounder not to intervene in the review process.
Despite Shadab’s initial objections, Shan decided to take the review, which showed no contact with the bat, allowing Agha Salman to continue batting. The replays showed that the ball made contact with the thigh, and the wide call was reversed by the umpire.

Shadab Khan Is One Of My Close Friends – Shan Masood
In a post-match press conference, Shan Masood addressed the recent heated exchange with Shadab Khan. Shan recounted instructing Shadab not to intervene in the review process and expressed no ill will towards him.
“No hard feelings for Shadab. Shadab is one of my close friends. I took the review because I knew it wasn’t out. Shadab came over and said the time was up, so I told him not to interfere in our matter and go back,” Shan said.

There’s Too Much Dosti Yaari – Shan Masood
Shan Masood emphasized the delicate balance between friendship and competitiveness in cricket. He remarked on the perception that camaraderie might be excessive while acknowledging the necessity of passion in the game.
“When we’re friendly, people say there’s too much dosti yaari. When someone shows some anger, people say they’re going overboard. It’s a passionate game,” Masood concluded.
Karachi Kings Eliminated From PSL 2024
Shadab Khan opted to bowl first after winning the toss at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Karachi Kings set a target of 151 runs in their first innings, which Islamabad United successfully chased down with eight balls remaining, securing the win.
Shan Masood managed to score only 10 runs from 12 deliveries, featuring just one boundary. Kieron Pollard top-scored with 39 runs off 28 balls, including three fours and three sixes, while James Vince added 29 runs off 27 deliveries, including five boundaries.
Shadab Khan ended wicketless, giving away 22 runs in his two overs. However, the right-handed batter made a crucial contribution of 34 runs off 26 balls, which helped Islamabad secure victory and reach their target in the 19th over with five wickets in hand.
Karachi Kings concluded their PSL campaign, ranking as the second least successful team this season, winning four out of ten matches. They accumulated 8 points and ended with a net run rate (NRR) of -0.192 by the league stage’s conclusion.
Islamabad United, on the other hand, qualified for the playoffs of the ongoing season of the IPL. The Shan Masood-led team secured five wins and four losses out of 10 matches. The Islamabad-based team earned 11 points with an NRR of +0.224.
