The Men in Blue currently are high on confidence as they have rediscovered their mojo. The 1st T20I match between India & South Africa was quite a one-sided affair where India completely dominated the terms. Ravindra Jadeja’s replacement Axar Patel is doing his best to replicate Jadeja. Axar was one of the reasons behind the Series victory against Australia.

South Africa would be hoping that they don’t emphasize too much on the loss as a bad day is bound to happen in International Cricket. Proteas need to be vigilant in the initial stages of the match as losing 5 wickets inside the power-play overs is a huge blow to the team.

India’s star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was all praise-worthy for Axar Patel on his YouTube channel. “In a high-scoring series, he was at his economical best. In a world where the focus is hugely on mystery spin, googly, wrist spin, and other stuff, he has impressed with his orthodox left-arm spin bowling,” said Ashwin.

“Pure value for putting the ball where he wants to and varying his pace, line, and length. That is a welcome sign if you ask me when it comes to spin bowling,” he added.

Axar Patel a Vital Cog

There are chances that the management may use him as a floater in the batting lineup. Axar has shown that he can be a decent pinch hitter as scoring 30-35 runs would be priceless for the team. Axar needs to make sure as he is not giving any loose deliveries to the batter.

Head Coach Rahul Dravid & Captain Rohit Sharma will have to be careful in handling him as they can’t afford any more injuries. The team is using him in power-play overs which is a good move as he is someone who doesn’t give any room to the batters. Men in Blue would be hoping that the team continues winning as momentum is everything in T20I Cricket.
