Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who sparkled with the bowling for India against South Africa in the second T20I, is on the verge of reaching a new T20I record.

South Africa has dominated India in the first two matches of their five-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at home. Bhuvneshwar, amid the losses, has been a standout performer.

After injuries appeared to disrupt his game, the Indian pace bowler appears to have regained his spark. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was particularly impressive in the second T20I in Cuttack, as he took four wickets for 13 runs in four overs to maintain India in competition.

Three of Bhuvneshwar’s four wickets went in the powerplay overs at the Barabati Stadium, joining him with West Indies’ Samuel Badree and New Zealand’s Tim Southee for the most wickets taken in T20I powerplay overs.

In 59 games, the Indian pacer has claimed 33 wickets in the powerplay at an incredible economy rate of 5.66.

India will be hoping that Bhuvneshwar Kumar can replicate his performance:

On Tuesday, Bhuvneshwar will get the opportunity to strengthen the lead in the third T20I between India and South Africa at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

India is in a must-win position in Vizag, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be trying to repeat his heroics from the last game. Other bowlers, on the other hand, would have to back up Bhuvneshwar, something that cost India dearly in Cuttack.

India has a few bench possibilities, and it will be intriguing to see if they are given a chance. Arshdeep Singh and Umran Malik have yet to be seen in India, but one or both of them could make their breakthrough in Visakhapatnam.

After losing two consecutive games, India will play South Africa in the series’ third match on June 14 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
