Sanju Samson may not be in Team India’s plans for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, but the Kerala wicketkeeper-batter showed promise in the three-match One-Day International series against South Africa, which finished on Tuesday. He played in all three matches and scored 118 runs.
Samson went undefeated in all three games, with the series opener being the best of the three innings he got to bat in a losing cause. Samson then hit 83 off 63 balls, bringing India dangerously near to victory, which appeared to be an uphill job at first. During his inning, the wicketkeeper-batter hit three sixes and nine boundaries as India fell short by 9 runs.

Sanju Samson Working On The Mental Aspect Of The Game
Samson, who usually bats at the top of the order for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, was the finisher in all three games. When questioned about his new position in the squad, Samson replied that the Indian team management had instructed him to be prepared to play in any circumstance.
“I have been practising different types of roles in the last couple of years, I have put in time to understand the types of roles in different teams. I have been given instructions to be ready and do this in the last one year.
“Physically I have been doing a lot of top-order batting, but mentally I am trying to understand the game and how to react according to the situation, a lot of learning has gone into this.
It’s important to keep the focus on the process, that has been the talk in the team meetings,” Samson made the remarks before the third One-Day International, which India won by seven wickets.
