David Miller, South Africa’s vice-captain, smashed the Indian bowlers to all parts at the Barsapara Cricket Ground in Guwahati, Assam in the second T20I against India on October 2, 2022, as South Africa made 221/3 in 20 overs chasing 238 runs to win and falling 16 runs short.
India has been asked to bat by South Africa captain Temba Bavuma who won the toss and chose to field first. The Men in Blue made no change to their XI, while Lungi Ngidi replaced Tabraiz Shamsi in Proteas XI.
Indian innings of 237/3 was a story of two partnerships in the two halves of the 20-over innings. First Rohit Sharma with 43 in 37 balls with 7 fours and 1 six and KL Rahul with 57 in 28 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes added 96 runs for the opening wickets inside 10 overs. Then Keshav Maharaj dismissed the openers but opened the floodgates as Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli got going.
The India batting hurricane saw the two adding 102 runs in just 42 balls with Suryakumar making 61 in 22 balls and Virat Kohli, who remained not out on 49. Dinesh Karthik even made 17* in 7 balls.
David Miller Smashed 106* In 47 Balls With 7 Sixes And 8 Fours; Twitter Left Shocked
South African reply to the mountainous target started off poorly as Temba Bavuma and Rilee Russouw fell for ducks each, both being dismissed by Arshdeep Singh. But Aiden Markram gave the Proteas innings some momentum with 33 in 19 balls but was dismissed by Axar Patel.
Then Quinton de Kock and David Miller threw caution to the wind and stitched a 174* partnership in 84 balls. De Kock made 69 in 48 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, but Miller cut loose and kept banging the ball over the ropes as Indian bowlers had no answer for his belligerent hitting.
Miller made 106* in 47 balls with 7 sixes and 8 fours as South Africa fell 16 runs short of the total. India won the match and defeated South Africa for the first time in a T20I series in India. They now lead the series 2-0 with the third T20I to be played on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Twitterverse was left shocked as Miller almost took South Africa to the win and they lauded his valiant knock on the social media platform.

David Miller a golden duck in Trivandrum!
The first duck of his T20I career after 91 innings!
Tonight 106* in 47 balls, 8 fours, 7 sixes!#INDvsAUS— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) October 2, 2022
Good win for India, but concerns About bowling enhanced. In Bumrah’s absence, attack looks mediocre. SA bowled poorly and de Kock was off colour, match would have been much closer. MOM? Usually star performer for winning team is the pick, but Between Miller & SKY it’s a toss up
