Indian Cricket Team would be worried as their pacers are not producing effective results. Harshal Patel was badly thrashed in the recently concluded India vs Australia T20I Series. It looked as if the Aussie batters were toying with him. The right arm pacer earlier had played the role of death overs specialist where he knows how to fox the batters with slower balls & cutters.

In the 1st T20I match, most of the job was done by Arshdeep Singh & Deepak Chahar who were making the South African batter dance to their tune. Harshal Patel had a decent outing as he took 2 scalps for 26 runs in his 4-over spell. The right-arm bowler would be pleased as he is showing signs of returning to form.

Rahul Dravid on Harshal Patel

Head Coach Rahul Dravid was seen addressing the pre-match press conference and was asked about Harshal Patel. “Harshal is a really mentally strong cricketer and he is a fantastic cricketer as well. Just look at his performance over the last two years. He has been an absolute phenomenal player. For the franchise that he plays in and even for the Indian team he has bowled some really good spells. He is preparing well and practicing really hard.” said Dravid.

” He made a comeback to the team after injury and it takes a little time to get used to it. He bowled a fantastic last over against Australia at Hyderabad. Even against South Africa, he bowled a fantastic last over and he got Tim David’s wicket even in a tight game that can make a big difference. We are really happy with the way he is progressing, he is really well. The more games he plays it will be better for him.” added Dravid.

Great Opportunity for Mohammed Siraj

India has named Siraj as the replacement for Bumrah for the ongoing T20I Serie against South Africa. It would be interesting to see whether the right arm fast bowler gets  a chance to showcase his skills immediately as the pacer has shown good control and rhythm.

Captain Rohit Sharm &  Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be well aware that Proteas would be ready for any sort of challenge. Men in Blue should keep one thing in mind that they should not get complacent as losing the series from here can hurt India a lot.
