Aakash Chopra thinks Ruturaj Gaikwad’s hesitation to impose the rhythm at the top of the lineup is a cause of worry for Team India.
Gaikwad ended up scoring 23 runs off 15 balls in the first T20I between India and South Africa. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opening batsman hit three sixes during his innings, but he was extremely lucky to clear the boundary with a pair of them.

Aakash Chopra addressed a few of Team India’s issues in a video posted to his YouTube channel, saying several things about Gaikwad:
“When you notice 211, it appears to be very nice, however, if you understand that far less than 200 will not perform, you should try and reach 225-230 if possible. So, what got us stuck? There are numerous things to consider.”

“Starting with Ruturaj Gaikwad, his strike rate in the first ten balls is extremely low. He takes a long time, which is a problem” Aakash Chopra Said.
‘Shreyas Iyer struggled against the fast bowlers’: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra identified Shreyas Iyer’s fairly disappointing scoring rate against pacers as yet another source of concern for Team India. He clarified:
“Ishan Kishan is attempting to play like a hero. It is critical to discuss Shreyas Iyer because his scoring rate against spin is incredibly high; he managed to score 24 runs off 8 balls, but when pace bowling arrives, his strike rate drops to between 85 and 115.”

Iyer’s scoring rate against pace, even in the Indian Premier League, needs to stand out at slightly more than 120. In T20I cricket, Mumbai batsmen strike at a rate of over 150 against spin, but only in the low 130s against pace.
On Sunday, June 12, India and South Africa will play the second T20I of their five-match series. The game is set to take place at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium.
