IND vs SA: “Tonight Was My Night” – Rilee Rossouw After Winning PoTM For His Stellar Ton In 3rd T20I vs India

Rilee Rossouw was adjusted Player of the Match in the third and final T20I of the three-match T20I series between Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Tuesday, October 4.

Losing the toss and batting first, South Africa posted 227/3 on the board with the help of exceptional batting performances by the 32-year-old Rilee Rossouw and wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock. Also, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs made amazing contributions with the bat during the innings. Notably, the total of 227/3 is the second highest score posted against India in the history of T20Is.

Rilee Rossouw smashed sensational 100* runs off 48 balls, including 7 fours and 8 sixes, and Quinton de Kock scored brilliant 68 runs off 43 balls, including 6 fours and 4 sixes.

Chasing the target, Rohit Sharma got out for a duck and Shreyas Iyer got out for 1. Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant scored 46 and 27 runs respectively. Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin also failed to contribute big runs.

In the end, Deepak Chahar smashed 31 runs off 17 balls, and Umesh Yadav scored decent 20 runs, but India were bundled out for 178 in 18.3 overs.

During the post-match presentation ceremony, Player of the Match award winner Rilee Rossouw said:

“It’s something that every cricketer goes through ( coming in on the back of two ducks), lucky for me, tonight was my night.”

Rilee Rossouw revealed that he had a discussion with Quinton de Kock, with whom he added 89 runs in 47 balls, during the innings and the wicketkeeper-batter told him to be the aggressor. The 32-year-old was also delighted to contribute to South Africa’s victory over world-class India in the third T20I. He said:

“We had a discussion out there, and he (de Kock) said you be the guy scoring. They are a world-class side. I am glad that I could contribute for the winning side tonight. The chat is that we back each other, and we believe in our abilities. I am glad with myself and de Kock for scoring runs tonight.”
