Dinesh Karthik, India keeper-batter got his timber rattled by Keshav Maharaj trying to play a funky reverse sweep in the ongoing third T20I of the series between India and South Africa which is being played at the Holkar stadium in Indore on October 4, 2022.

Rohit Sharma of India won the toss and chose to bowl first. India made three changes as Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were rested and Arshdeep Singh suffered a back injury and was benched. In came Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, and Shreyas Iyer. South Africa also rested Anrich Nortje and brought in Dwaine Pretorius.

South Africa’s innings was the story of two partnerships involving Rilee Rossouw, who made his maiden T20I century in just 48 balls with 8 sixes and 7 fours. He added 89 runs with Quinton de Kock, who 68 runs in 43 balls with 4 sixes and 6 fours.

After De Kock was dismissed, Russouw continued his onslaught and added 87 runs with Tristan Stubbs who made 23 runs in 18 balls. In the end, South Africa finished on 227/3 in 20 overs as David Miller finished the innings with 19* in 5 balls and three sixes in the last over.

In reply, Kagiso Rabada dismissed Rohit Sharma on the second ball of the first over for a duck and then Wayne Parnell got rid of Shreyas Iyer for 1 run, after setting him up beautifully with short bowling.

Rishabh Pant (27 in 14 balls) and Dinesh Karthik tried to bring India back in the chase with a 41-run partnership before Rishabh fell to an easy catch. Dinesh Karthik then got hold of Parnell, hitting him for 2 sixes and one four, and then hit Maharaj for two sixes as well.

However, on the last ball of the same over, Karthik decided to play a reverse sweep, but Maharaj managed to sneak the ball through him and hit the stumps, sending the Indian batter back for 46 off 21 balls with 4 sixes and 4 fours, leaving India 78/4 in 7 overs.
