Indian Cricket Team had a dream start to the 2nd T20I match where the hosts are looking threatening. South Africa had made one change to their playing 11 as they dropped Tabraiz Shamsi and included the speedster, KL Rahul. The hosts made no changes to their playing 11. KL Rahul & Rohit Sharma made sure that they are not allowing any bowlers to settle in.
KL Rahul looked in ominous touch as the batter is scoring runs consistently. The batter smashed back-to-back half centuries and it won’t be wrong to say that he is ready for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Rohit Sharma took time and then unleashed an attack as he scored 43 runs in 37 balls where he smashed 7 fours and 1 six.
Keshav Maharaj Dismisses KL Rahul
At the end of 11 overs India’s score was 105-1 where the stage was set for KL Rahul to get a big one. Temba Bavuma gave Keshav Maharaj his final over and that paid off. The left arm off spinner dismissed KL Rahul as the batter was trying to play a sweep shot where Maharaj trapped him LBW. The decision was sent to third umpire but it was a clear out. Due to this wicket, South Africa would sense that they are back in the game as the score at his dismissal was 107-2 in 11.3 overs.
Crucial Phase for India
The Men in Blue should look to take the score beyond 200 runs and with Suryakumar Yadav & Virat Kohli. The duo have shown that they can strike the ball cleanly as this pitch is a run fest and any score around 200+ will give India psychological advantage.
South Africa need to regroup and target wickets as bowling dot balls won’t work now. The Indian batters would be ready to go bang bang as they have got a lot of firepower. It would be interesting to how South African batters perform after their disastrous 1st T20I match.
