Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team have registered a comfortable Test series win over Sri Lanka by winning both the games in a dominant style.

The first Test match of the series took place at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, Chandigarh and India won the match by an innings and 222 runs.

The second match, which was a pink-ball Test match, took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru and India won by 238 runs to gain 12 crucial ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Points.

Meanwhile, after the Test series win over Sri Lanka, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma continued the tradition and handed over the trophy to youngsters. This time it was Priyank Panchal and Saurabh Kumar, who were handed over the trophy by the Indian skipper.

Meanwhile, Priyank Panchal was India’s backup opener for the series against Sri Lanka. He had previously replaced Indian captain Rohit Sharma in the Test squad for the South Africa tour 2021-22 when Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury.

Also, the 31-year-old Priyank Panchal has a plethora of experience of playing first-class cricket as he has played 101 first-class games and scored 7068 runs at an impressive average of 45.3.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Saurabh Kumar, who bats left-handed and bowls slow left-arm orthodox, hails from Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh and he has played domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh at U-19 and U-22 levels.

Overall, he has played 46 first-class games and has scored 1572 runs at an average of 29.11, including 2 centuries and 8 fifties. He has bowled 10494 deliveries in his first-class career and has bagged 196 wickets at an average of 24.15, an economy of 2.70 and a strike rate of 53.5.
