India cricket team celebrated the success of the first Test victory against Sri Lanka by cutting cake outside the team’s hotel premises.
On Sunday, India defeated Sri Lanka in the first Test by an innings and 222 runs at the Punjab Cricket Association in Mohali.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja led the team with his all-round heroics in the first Test. Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 from 228 balls including 17 fours and three sixes in his wonderful innings that helped India to put 574/8 on the scoreboard.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma declared the innings that denied Jadeja to score his maiden double-hundred in Test cricket. At the end of Day 2, Jadeja revealed that he was the one to signal to the team dressing room for declaration as the pitch was allowing turn in the final session.
Jadeja justified the decision as they reduced Sri Lanka to 108/4 at the end of the day’s gameplay with the left-arm spinner getting the better of Sri Lanka Test skipper Dimuth Karunaratne.
On Day 3, Jadeja completed his Test career’s 10th five-wicket haul as he finished with 5/41 in the first innings as India enforced Sri Lanka to follow on after they bundled up on 174. Jadeja claimed four more wickets in the second innings to end his match figures with 9/87.

The Saurashtra player became the first player in the history of Test cricket to make a 150-plus score and snap nine wickets in the same Test match. The Indian team celebrated Jadeja’s monumental success by having cake.

In a video uploaded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jadeja is welcomed by the team members with full of exuberance as the player went near the table to cut the cake. After Jadeja had the desert, all the Indian team members including head coach Rahul Dravid and senior player Ravichandran Ashwin gathered around the table to collect their own piece of cake.
Jadeja also dedicated his second Test century against Sri Lanka to his brother-in-law at the end of the second day.
