The Sri Lankan cricket board again wants to schedule a white ball tour. Meanwhile, so, the December-January window has been chosen for the Sri Lanka tour of India white ball games.

Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of both ODI and Test series against Bangladesh. Ravindra Jadeja is currently recovering from his knee surgery. However, with a short turnaround for the Bangladesh Test series, he will miss out. Instead, he will prepare for a return in home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand in January.

IND vs SL: 3 Indian Players Who Can Retire From ODIs After Sri Lanka ODI Series

Bhuvneshwar Kumar-32 Years

The 32-year-old pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was not included in the ODI squad against New Zealand and Bangladesh. The 32-year pacer may retire after Sri Lanka ODIs if the team management is against his inclusion in the 2023 ODI World Cup. He has picked 141 scalps in 121 ODIs, the last of which came against South Africa in the Proteas tour in January 2022.

At the T20 World Cup 2022, Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar established himself as India’s all-time leading wicket-taker in the shortest format. The game’s shortest format has seen 90 wickets taken by the outstanding pacer in 87 T20Is. Bhuvneshwar Kumar had an excellent Asia Cup 2022 where he was the leading wicket-taker with 11 scalps in 5 T20Is including a career-best of 5/4 against Afghanistan.

Mohammed Shami-32 Years

32 years old veteran pacer Mohammed Shami may retire from ODIs-50 overs longer format. His figures in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022 were also questionable as he let go of several runs irrespective of the opposition (economy-7.15).

Mohammad Shami also looked off-color in the 2022 T20 World Cup picking 6 scalps in as many games averaging 23.83. The senior pacer was on everyone’s wish list after he performed exceedingly well in the Indian Premier League 2022 (20 scalps in 16 games averaging 24.4).

However, it looks like Mohammed Shami gave his best during the franchise-based tournament and did not manage to stand up in the all-important Semis against England (0/39 in 3 overs).

He could also be shown the exit door in T20Is after India’s miserable performance in ICC knockout games yet again. He may retire from both the limited-overs formats soon. His last appearance in ODIs came in the England tour. He has picked 152 scalps in 82 ODIs averaging 25.72. The 32-year pacer may retire after Sri Lanka ODIs if the team management is against his inclusion in the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Ravichandran Ashwin-36 Years

Ravichandran Ashwin was recalled after a gap of 4 years in the 50 overs format in the January 2022 tour of South Africa. His previous appearance in the ODI format was in West Indies in June 2017. However, he picked only 1 wicket conceding 121 runs in 20 overs, and was never given another chance to play ODIs.

The 36-year-old off-spinner may bid adieu to international cricket after the Sri Lanka ODIs if he’s selected for the last time. He has picked 151 scalps in 113 ODIs averaging 33.5 and has been past his prime. In T20Is too, he had a pathetic T20 World Cup 2022 and may retire from T20Is too. Apart from the match against Zimbabwe where he picked 3/22, he picked only 3 scalps from 5 T20Is and his economy rate was poor too- 8.16.

Umesh Yadav, the 35-year-old pacer, who has played 75 ODIs and has picked 106 scalps may retire from limited-overs cricket. His last appearance for the Men in Blue came in 2018 against WI.
