Sri Lankan Cricket Team lost the 1st ODI against India by 67 runs. The island nation would be utterly disappointed with their performance, especially with the top order as apart from Pathum Nissanka not a single batter converted their starts.
The Men in Blue would be having mixed feelings about the match as they should have won the match by at-least 100 odd runs as the island nation was reduced to 206-8. Umran Malik was the pick of the bowlers where he took 3 scalps but at the same time conceded 57 runs in his 8 overs.

Skipper Dasun Shanaka gave something to cheer for the Lankan fans by smashing a terrific century. The right-handed batter scored 108 runs in 88 balls where he struck 12 fours & 3 sixes. He looked in complete control and if the batter could have got some more support then the result of the match might have been different.
Sri Lanka’s decision to open with Avishka Fernando didn’t work well where the batter looked in two minds whether to attack or defend. The management may think of promoting Dasun Shanaka up the order but he doesn’t have a promising record against spinners.
The bowler’s didn’t execute the basics right- Dasun Shanaka
During post match presentation, Dasun Shanaka was asked about the match. “I think the start their openers gave, we didn’t use the new ball well, unlike their bowlers who got it to swing. We did have a plan, but the bowler’s didn’t execute the basics right.” said Dasun Shanaka.
We didn’t use variations during the first 10 overs- Dasun Shanaka
“We didn’t use variations during the first 10 overs. (With the bat) I think I’m doing the basics well, I think I should bat higher in the T20Is, but the team needs me to bat at 6 with Bhanuka at 5.” he added.
