The BCCI is in the procedure of selecting candidates for interviews with the national selection committee. Chetan Sharma, the head of the previous committee, and Harvinder Singh, a member in the central zone, have a good chance of being included on the trimmed list.

On December 29, Ashok Malhotra, Sulakshana Naik, and Jatin Paranjpe, who make up the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), are scheduled to hold an interview session in Mumbai with potential members of the new national selection committee.

CAC To Meet Shortlisted Names For Interview On 29 December

“If all goes well, on December 29, the CAC is supposed to meet physically in Mumbai and interview the shortlisted names,” Under the conditions of anonymity, a BCCI insider informed PTI.

It is reported that Chetan and his team have been requested to monitor the current round of Ranji Trophy matches for an additional week.

Whereas Sunil Joshi is in Hyderabad watching the game between Assam and Hyderabad, Chetan and his colleague Harvinder were in Delhi to see the home team’s play versus Tamil Nadu.

“They were informed only yesterday that they need to cover this round,” the source said.

Chetan Sharma Has A Good Chance Again

It is thought that the CAC would likely question Chetan Sharma and Harvinder again and that both may resume from their separate zones.

Those who follow events at the BCCI think that the board mandarins haven’t come up with many candidates for the position since the salary package of ₹1.25 crore for the chairman and ₹1 crore for the other representatives isn’t thought to be one that would entice the finest in the industry.

“Chetan has a good chance of either being retained as the chairman or at least the North Zone representative if he is willing to work under new chairman, whosoever it is. The truth is BCCI is not getting any top names. It is not that they haven’t sounded out anyone. If Chetan didn’t have a chance, why would he apply? There must have been some assurances given,” said a BCCI source.
