IND vs SL: "Dropped Or Rested" - Twitter Reacts To Rohit Sharma's Absence From The T20 Squad Against Sri Lanka

India’s squad announcement for the upcoming ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka came with a lot of shocks. The major absentee from both squads is the absence of Rishabh Pant. While several media outlets have said that Pant is out with an injury, the BCCI has not provided an official explanation for why he won’t be playing in the ODIs or T20Is.
Additionally, Hardik Pandya will lead India in the T20I series while Rohit Sharma will only lead in ODIs. Once again, BCCI has not given any official confirmation on whether this is going to be a long-term arrangement or for only the Sri Lanka series. Rohit is also not part of the T20I side along with Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

It is reasonable that the shortest format will now feature new faces and largely IPL players, even if Rohit, who is recovering from a finger injury, was selected captain of the ODI series that will come after the T20Is.
Even Virat Kohli and KL Rahul aren’t playing in T20 Internationals, and there are rumblings that neither of them nor Rohit, will be selected for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

With a World Cup scheduled to be contested in India next year, the troika will likely be urged to concentrate on the 50-over format.
“Yes, there will be no official announcement that Rohit has been removed from T20I captaincy but he along with Kohli and Rahul will be phased out from the format. Obviously, Rohit’s dislocated thumb injury hasn’t completely healed although he has started training. But phasing out has indeed started,” a senior BCCI source privy to the development told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The first rule for any captain to be considered is his place in the team should be permanent.
The rest of the things don't matter.
Captaincy has almost no impact in a game, I remember how Rohit Sharma captaincy was hyped up because of MI.
We saw what happened. ??

Virat Kohli has taken a break from T20Is to concentrate on ODIs & tests. He hasn't mentioned about his comeback but its sure that he won't play before IPL 2023. Rohit Sharma & KL Rahul are rested as well in the T20I series against Sri Lanka.#INDvsSL #ViratKohli #TestCricket pic.twitter.com/8WcVA6XMad
