Reetinder Singh Sodhi, a former player for India, has indirectly taken a jab at KL Rahul, who is under fire following his poor showing in the T20 World Cup and the recently finished Test series in Bangladesh.
The former cricketer suggested that players who don’t perform should be shown the exit.

He wants failing players to rejoin Team India by demonstrating their worth in domestic tournaments. Reetinder Singh Sodhi said in an interview with India News:
“Despite being X, Y, or Z, you must perform. You are a valuable member of the team if you are performing right now. Emotions have no place in professional cricket. We can discuss prominent players who have played for ten years and have performed admirably, but we haven’t lately won a World Cup, and this keeps happening” Reetinder Singh Sodhi said.

“It’s not a big deal to keep them out since you’re not including players who aren’t producing. Bring them back if they do well in the Ranji Trophy” Reetinder Singh Sodhi Added.
Rahul averaged 21.33 runs per innings during the T20 World Cup, scoring 128 runs in six innings. Later, in Bangladesh, during four Test innings, the right-hander amassed 57 runs.
“You got to bring the new guy”: Reetinder Singh Sodhi
In order for Team India to win the 50-over World Cup in 2023, Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes that players should be chosen not just on the basis of reputation but also on their performance, form, and fitness.

In reference to Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, he said: “You perform, you play. Go with performance, form, and fitness rather than reputation. If we want to win the World Cup, only that is the way to go. Show the exit door to a star player who frequently performs poorly with the bat or the ball. You got to bring the new guy.”
On January 3, the Men in Blue will face Sri Lanka in their first Twenty20 international in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
