India and Sri Lanka are set to clash with each other in an ODI and T20I series. IND vs SL T20I series and ODI series will witness 3 games each. The IND vs SL T20I series will take place followed by the ODI series.

The three T20I games take place on January 3, 5, and 7. The three ODI games will be played on January 10, 12, and 15. Both India and Sri Lanka are yet to announce their squad for the series. Here we talk about India’s predicted playing XI for Sri Lanka ODIs.

Shubman Gill

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul might both be rested in the IND vs SL ODI series as per reports. Hence, Shubman Gill might get the chance to open the innings for the Indian team in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. In 2022, Gill showed fabulous form in ODIs scoring 638 runs in 12 games at an average of 70.88, smashing 1 century and 4 half-centuries.

Shikhar Dhawan (C)

Shikhar Dhawan might be the other opener for India in IND vs SL ODI series. In the absence of Sharma and Rahul, he might also lead the team. Dhawan gave a flop against Bangladesh but will aim to make a comeback against Sri Lanka. In 2022, the left-handed batter scored 688 runs in 22 ODIs at an average of 34.40 and 6 fifties.

Shreyas Iyer

Virat Kohli is expected to be rested in the ODI series against Sri Lanka and hence, Shreyas Iyer might be picked as the one-down batter. In the ODI series against New Zealand, Iyer scored 129 runs in 2 games. In the ODI series against Bangladesh too, Iyer showed good form by hitting 109 runs in 3 games.

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav might be a middle-order batsman for the team in the IND vs SL ODI series. The right-handed batsman has managed to impress in the shortest format but has yet to gain the limelight in ODIs. In 2022, Yadav played 13 ODI games and scored 260 runs with 1 half-century.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya will be a middle-order batter and all-rounder for India in the IND vs SL ODI series. The right-handed batsman showed good form in ODIs in 2022, smacking 100 runs in 2 innings and picking 6 wickets. He has shown outstanding form in recent times.

Rishabh Pant (WK)

Rishabh Pant might be the wicketkeeper for the team in the IND vs SL ODI series. Pant has struggled to perform in T20Is but has shown good form in Test and ODIs. In 2022, the left-handed batsman scored 336 runs in 12 ODIs, smashing 1 century and 2 half-centuries.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is all fit and is expected to be back during the IND vs SL series. He might miss the T20I series but will be part of the team in the ODI series. Jadeja only played 3 ODIs in 2022 in which he scored 36 runs and picked 1 wicket. He will look to start 2023 on a high note.

Yuzvendra Chahal might be a spinner for the team in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. The right-arm spinner played 14 ODis in 2022 and picked 21 wickets at an average of 27.09 and an economy rate of 5.48. He also picked 3 four-wicket hauls in ODIs this year.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be back in the team in the IND vs SL ODI series. The right-arm pacer played 5 ODIs in 2022 and picked 13 wickets at an average of 15.75 and an economy of 4.33. Bumrah showed fabulous form in the few games he played this year. After recovery from his injury, he will be all set to shine with his pace attack.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar might be another pacer for India in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. In 2022, he played just 2 ODI games in which he remained wicketless. However, he showed superb form in the T20Is. Kumar will look to come up with a good show against Sri Lanka.

Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar might be another pacer for India in IND vs SL ODI series. The right-arm pacer picked 10 wickets in 8 ODI games in 2022 at an average of 27.0 and an economy of 5.51. Chahar was ruled out during the 1st ODI against Bangladesh but will aim for a good show against Sri Lanka.
