Salman Butt praised Umran Malik for his impressive showing in the first One-Day International against Sri Lanka on January 10. The former captain of Pakistan wants India to support the superstar because of his quick bowling and wicket-taking skills, something he believes they lacked in the past. He believes that when “Jammu Express” has more experience, it will only grow better.
Umran Malik made the declaration after picking up three wickets against the Islanders. With seven wickets in three games, he became the T20I player with the most against Sri Lanka. Team India went on to win the T20I series 2-1.

Umran Malik Is Something That India Needs In Their Bowling Line-up: Salman Butt
Butt stated on his YouTube channel: “Umran Malik picked up three wickets, he was slightly expensive, but he is very young. He’s not yet played 10 games for India. If he takes wickets and bowls 150kph+ consistently, then that’s something India need in their bowling line-up. This is a link that is missing in the Indian line-up.”
He continued: “The more games he plays, the more he gets better. He should play consistently. He has the pace and lovely action. I think he has a future for India.”
Malik has taken 10 wickets in six ODIs thus far, recording an economy rate of 6.22.
Mohammed Siraj Is Aggressive, Live Wire: Salman Butt
In the meantime, Mohammed Siraj has received plaudits from Salman Butt for his aggressive use of the new ball in the opening ODI versus Sri Lanka. He said:
“Mohammed Siraj bowled well with the new ball. He has a good attitude while bowling. He is aggressive, live wire, while bowling, it looks like everything is about him.”
Siraj’s dismissals of Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando gave India two early victories. In his seven overs, comprising one maiden, he ended with the figures of 2/30. Last year, the 28-year-old took 24 wickets in 15 ODIs.
Virat Kohli’s century helped Rohit Sharma and company defeat Sri Lanka in the opening one-day international by 67 runs. The next game for the Men in Blue will take place on January 12 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata versus the Islanders.
