Virat Kohli, the top batsman for India, recorded his 73rd international century and 45th ODI century on Tuesday. At the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, during India’s first One-Day International (ODI) match against Sri Lanka, the landmark was achieved. Virat’s 45th ODI century is his 20th on home soil.

For the most tonnes smashed in his country, he has equaled the record established by famed Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar. In-home games, both batters have 20 hundreds. Virat needed 99 innings to reach this goal whereas Sachin needed 160 innings.

In addition to these two, South Africans Ricky Ponting (14 tonnes in Australia in 151 innings) and Hashim Amla (14 tonnes in SA in 69 innings) are also on the list for the most ODI tonnes at home in history.

Kohli took a single on the second ball of bowler Kasun Rajitha’s second delivery of the 47th over to get yet another century, giving him back-to-back hundreds in ODIs. In the third ODI last month versus Bangladesh, he hit a hundred.

Virat was the team’s leading scorer when India batted after Sri Lanka choose to bowl first after winning the toss. Mohammed Shami (4*) and Mohammed Siraj (5*) were also undefeated as India reached a massive 373/7 in 50 overs.
