Former India player Mohammad Kaif believes that Virat Kohli can definitely break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries. Mohammad Kaif also feels that Virat Kohli can even reach 60 centuries in ODIs.
Virat Kohli slammed his 45th ODI ton in the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka recently. Sachin Tendulkar accounts for 49 centuries in ODI cricket. Hence, Virat Kohli needs 5 more centuries to break the master blaster’s record. Considering Kohli’s current form, it is highly likely that he can break Tendulkar’s record soon.

Virat Kohli Will Definitely Break Sachin Tendulkar’s Record: Mohammad Kaif
While speaking to Star Sports show ‘Match Point’, Mohammad Kaif was asked if Virat Kohli can break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI hundreds. To this, Kaif replied that the record will be definitely broken.
“He can make 60 as well. There are a lot of matches to be played in India if you include the World Cup as well – the form he has currently, they play on good pitches and he bats through the innings. The record will definitely be broken, that is certain, but it needs to be seen how soon he does that,” Kaif said.
Kaif also asserted that Virat Kohli can reach 55 to 60 ODI centuries as well.
“I feel he can probably reach 55 to 60 as well considering the form with which he is playing. He doesn’t get tired, he is No. 1 in fitness and he has been given the right name of ‘Run Machine’. He likes staying on the pitch and scoring runs in the Indian jersey. We didn’t see any lack of passion,” Kaif further said.
Sachin Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket in 2013, shattered 49 centuries in 463 ODIs. Kohli has already reached 45 centuries in 266 ODIs. The 34-year-old Kohli has more years to his career and he is highly likely to grab this record from Tendulkar.
However, in the total international centuries, Kohli has a long way to go. Sachin Tendulkar has slammed 100 international centuries- 49 in ODIs and 51 in Tests. Virat Kohli currently accounts for 73 international centuries- out of which 45 came in ODIs while 27 arrived in Test.
Virat Kohli has shown fantastic batting form in the recent series. He slammed a century against Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI. In his prior ODI game, he scored a century against Bangladesh in December 2022.
