Arshdeep Singh, an Indian bowler, had a terrible second T20I of the three-match series against Sri Lanka because he delivered a record five no-balls.

He received a lot of criticism from fans and veteran cricketers following the no-ball gaffe. He was also criticized by former India selector Saba Karim, who asked him why he missed out on the local season while away from the national team.

Karim asked the young bowler some probing questions, but he also acknowledged that “young players will make errors and that’s how they’ll develop.”

Why Didn’t Arshdeep Singh Play Vijay Hazare For Punjab: Saba Karim

“Why is Arshdeep Singh not playing domestic cricket in between international matches? Why didn’t he play Vijay Hazare for Punjab?” Saba Karim was quoted as saying by India News.

“We have to be patient. It takes time to build a team. It’s a young team with a lot of changes. The new players will make mistakes and that’s how they will learn. It will keep going up and down for the next few days. You have to trust them,” he added.

India had won the toss against Sri Lanka on Thursday, January 5, and decided to field first. Arshdeep, the pacer, stepped in to deliver the second over, but it went horribly wrong for him. Pathum Nissanka hit a boundary off the first ball, and after Arshdeep gave up a hat-trick of no-balls, the over ended with 19 runs.

Hardik Pandya, the captain, saw that Arshdeep was not having a good day, therefore he didn’t bring up him to bowl prior to the last one.

In the 19th over, the young bowler returned and delivered two no-balls once more. The 23-year-old did succeed in getting the in-form Dasun Shanaka out, but it was for none since the on-field umpire called it a no-ball because the pacer had once more overstepped.

Arshdeep Singh let up 37 runs in his two overs on that particular day, allowing Sri Lanka to amass a massive score of 206-6 in just 20 overs. India’s top order struggled throughout the chase, but Axar Patel and Suryakumar Yadav offered some hope with their heroic fifties. India nonetheless fell 16 runs short of the opposing total, so it wasn’t enough.

The last T20I encounter of the series will be played today (January 7) in Rajkot, and both teams will be attempting to secure a point to tie it up at 1-1.
