Former India National Cricket Team player Reetinder Singh Sodhi slammed the powerplay batting approach of India in T20Is and said that the opening batters – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul – look to survive in the first six overs by playing a cautious brand of cricket.
Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul faced heavy criticism for not being able to provide India with good starts in the powerplay in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The best score of India in the powerplay in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 was 46, which came against Zimbabwe.

“You want to score 80-odd runs in six overs and your openers are still searching for form, looking to survive with the new ball. We have failed repeatedly in that area. The opposition knows India will find themselves in a problem and start to play cautiously for 10 overs if they get the first two wickets,” Sodhi said while speaking on India News.
We Should Play Aggressive Cricket – Saba Karim

During the same show, former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim said that India should play a fearless brand of cricket as they have several supremely talented hard-hitting batters in the team. He said:

“We should play aggressive cricket because we have Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya. That’s the only way to succeed.
“There are only two templates to win T20 cricket, attacking or aggressive cricket – don’t care about the situation. The second one is to create a balanced team, where you have five wicket-taking bowlers and a sixth bowling option, like Pakistan, which lack attacking batting.”
Also, Reetinder Singh Sodhi said that India should play an attacking brand of cricket.
He said: “Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Ishan Kishan, on their day, can even score 300 runs in 20 overs. I hope India play such cricket. Attack from the word go.”
