Jasprit Bumrah is a right-arm pacer who plays for India. Bumrah is unarguably the best pacer to ever play for India to date. Bumrah is a pacer who has excelled in all formats and all conditions across the world. He is the only bowler in history to grab the top ICC rankings across all three formats- Test, ODIs, and T20Is.
Jasprit Bumrah's career flourished during his time with Mumbai Indians when he shared the stage with former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga. Under Malinga's guidance, Bumrah honored his skills to become one of the most feared pacers in international cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah made his international debut in 2016.
Bumrah commenced his international career in January 2016 during the India tour of Australia. He played just 1 ODI out of 3 but was part of the playing 11 in all three T20I games. He finished as the highest wicket-taker in the series with 6 wickets as India whitewashed Australia to win the series 3-0.
Two years later in January 2018, Bumrah made his Test debut during the India tour of South Africa. The right-arm pacer grabbed the limelight in his debut Test series itself, hunting 14 wickets across 3 games, finishing with 1 wicket less than his teammate Mohammed Shami.
Jasprit Bumrah has been part of Mumbai Indians in IPL.
In the Indian Premier League, Jasprit Bumrah has been associated with only one franchise- Mumbai Indians. MI picked him in IPL 2013 and luckily, they also won their first-ever season in the same season. Later, MI went on to win 5 IPL titles till 2020 and Bumrah played a huge role in their success.
Bumrah did not find much success in his initial three seasons till 2015. However, he gained momentum later. In IPL 2016, the right-armer captured 15 wickets, raising it to 20 in 2017. He has been a consistent performer in IPL for his team. After Lasith Malinga's ouster, Jasprit Bumrah has been the backbone of MI's bowling attack.
Over the years, Jasprit Bumrah has been retained by Mumbai Indians. Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Bumrah was retained by Mumbai Indians for Rs. 12 crore and was one of four members retained by the franchise.
