Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has hit back at people who are asking the England coach and captain to be sacked after an Ashes series defeat against Australia. England lost the series 4-0 with Joe Root and Chris Silverwood under the scanner for their performances so far. Root, who scored over 1600 Test runs in 2021, scored 322 in this Ashes series.
Kevin Pietersen took to Twitter to voice his support for the under-pressure coach and captain. He believes that the current English cricket set-up has no one better to replace the duo.
Who Else Is Going To Coach Or Captain: Kevin Pietersen
They’re saying, SACK THE COACH! SACK THE CAPTAIN!
Who else is going to coach or captain this England Test team any better?
If you name me some world class players to replace the current underperforming ones, I’ll agree.
But, there isn’t! #<!---->B<!---->l<!---->a<!---->m<!---->e<!---->T<!---->h<!---->e<!---->S<!---->y<!---->s<!---->t<!---->e<!---->m— Kevin Pietersen? (@KP24) J<!---->a<!---->n<!---->u<!---->a<!---->r<!---->y<!----> <!---->1<!---->7<!---->,<!----> <!---->2<!---->0<!---->2<!---->2

England lost the fifth and final Test in Hobart by 146 runs chasing 271 for victory. The openers added 68 for the first wicket as England lost the remaining 10 wickets in a space of 56 runs.
Joe Root as England’s skipper has endured a tough time recently. He lost a Test series to India in India by a 3-1 margin. They then lost to New Zealand ahead of the WTC final in June. England are also currently trailing the five-match Test series 2-1 with the postponed Manchester Test match to be played later this year.
Despite the recent Ashes defeat, Joe Root remains England’s most successful Test skipper with 27 wins in 61 matches. Alastair Cook is second in the list with 24 wins in 59 games.
England last registered an Ashes Test win in Australia more than a decade ago. The Hobart loss was their 13th loss in Australia as they have now lost three consecutive Ashes series down under.
