Ashes 2021-22: Love It When Stuart Broad And I Are Against Each Other; He’s A World-Class Bowler - David Warner

Stuart Broad was included for the ongoing fourth Ashes 2021-22 Test match by England, after they were decimated in the first three matches by Australia, with the country’s second-highest wicket-taker playing just one match out of those three. Even opponent David Warner called Broad a world-class bowler.
The two- Stuart Broad and David Warner- had a storied rivalry not only for the past decade or so, but especially in the Ashes 2019 which was played in England. It was the first Test series for Steve Smith and David Warner after they completed their one-year bans for involvement in ball-tampering in South Africa.
While Smith was back into his old run-scoring self, scoring 4 centuries in 4 Tests including a double-ton, Warner found it hard to cope with England bowlers’ swing and managed just 95 runs in 10 innings, falling to Stuart Broad seven out of ten times during the Ashes 2019.
In the ongoing Test match in Sydney, Broad once again accounted for David Warner, dismissing him for 30 runs in 21st over. Warner lauded his opponent praising his ability with the ball.
“I really enjoy you guys making up a good story which is fantastic and it builds up the game. From my perspective, he is like any other bowler. But I and Broady (Stuart Broad) love it when we are out there. It’s good funny banter. It’s one of those things where a bowler bowls a lot of deliveries at you.
He pitches the ball in the same area a lot of time which makes him really consistent and he holds his length very well. He tries to create that false shot. Today, I tried to draw the ball too straight. I think the other ones I did drive through the covers and bit squarer and it was a disappointment for me,” Warner said at the press conference after day one.
James Anderson And Stuart Broad Are Two Of The World’s Best Bowlers: David Warner
Not only Broad, but Warner lauded his long-time bowling partner, James Anderson, who is the highest wicket-taker for England in Tests and third overall highest in Test history after Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708).
“It’s awesome to see Broady back out there as well, he is a world-class bowler. To have him and Jimmy (James Anderson) bowling at us is great. They would have been disappointed to miss some of the Test matches but it is the decision of their selection panel. It is great to come up against the world’s best bowlers,” Warner said.
Australia ended the rain-affected day one on 126/3. English pace trio of James Anderson, Stuart Broad, and Mark Wood each got a wicket.
