England Men’s cricket team announced a 12-man squad for the second Test of the Ashes series scheduled to be played at the Adelaide Oval from Thursday. It will be the first of the two pink-ball Tests in this series with the other one being played at Hobart.

The experienced duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad have expectedly made a comeback to the side after being rested for the first Test at Gabba. Mark Wood has been rested keeping an eye on bringing him back for the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.

Despite a horrendous outing in the first Test, Jack Leach has been named in the squad considering he is their only frontline spinner option. Leach conceded 102 runs in just 13 overs as he was taken to the cleaners by Travis Head and David Warner.

Ben Stokes has been deemed fit for the Test after he looked quite jaded back in Brisbane. He wasn’t playing at his 100 per cent but the lion-hearted nature of Stokes is likely to keep him going in tough alien conditions.

Speaking about the return to the side, Anderson said that the squad is quite strong and the goal is to rotate players so they can give their best whenever required on the field. It is a long taxing tour that the Englishmen have signed up for and they need to be prepared for the same.

It is always frustrating when you miss out on a Test but it is all about the big picture. We have five Tests in fairly quick succession so we are trying to keep guys fresh. It shows how strong a squad we’ve got when myself and Stuart come back into the 12 for this Test. We are fully focused on getting back in the series,” Anderson mentioned.
