Australia opening batsman Marcus Harris was not at all happy with the hotspot technology which is an infrared imaging system used in cricket to determine whether the ball has hit the batsman, bat or pad.

The Aussie batter made some comments on the Hot Spot technology during the Boxing Day Test against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and his comments were caught on the stump mic and it went viral on social media.

Marcus Harris was the star performer of the Australian side in the team’s first innings and he ended up being the top run-getter of the innings as well.

Meanwhile, he was batting very well and looking comfortable out in middle but in the 31st over he was given LBW out by the on-field umpire and Harris straight up went for a review and the decision was overturned.

In the replay, it was clearly seen that the ball had hit the inside edge of the bat before crashing onto his pads. However, when the Hot Spot technology was used it didn’t pick up the edge and on the other hand, Real-Time Snickometer picked up the edge and the third-umpire decided to overturn the decision.

Star England all-rounder Ben Stokes was disappointed with the decision after Marcus Harris survived and he asked Harris if he had really hit the ball. To which Marcus Harris replied by saying that he was not sure and he even slammed the Hot Spot technology and termed it as ” fu**ing hopeless.” He said:

“I wasn’t 100% sure but thought there maybe an inside edge. Hotspot is fu**ing hopeless.”

Meanwhile, the Aussie opener Harris didn’t score many runs in the Brisbane Test and the Adelaide Test match. However, things were different at MCG and he looked in great touch and ended up smashing 76 runs off 189 balls including 7 fours. He added some good partnerships but was dismissed by veteran pacer James Anderson in the 62nd over of the innings.
