Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar made it clear that Jasprit Bumrah poses the biggest threat to the South African batting lineup and they will be fretting over playing against him.

Bumrah picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the Cape Town Test which happened to be his 7th in Tests in just 27 matches. It was on the back of his effort that India managed to gain a handy 13-run lead in the first innings.

He is the bowler the South Africans worry about most. Look at what Jasprit Bumrah can do. He can bowl the slower delivery. He has got the delivery which leaves the left-hander which is where he got Elgar. He has got the one the one that moves slightly away from the right hander,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Having begun playing for India in white-ball formats, naturally, Bumrah started using the variations in the longest format as well. One of his best deliveries in Tests happens to be the memorable slower ball to Shaun Marsh in the 2018-19 Australian tour.

He has got the fast yorker, the slow yorker. A very sharp bouncer. He has got the goods. He has got everything over there. He unfurls all these weapons very cleverly at the right time,” Gavaskar mentioned.

Bumrah’s return to the ground he made his Test debut in was filled with joy for the 27-year-old. He removed Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Keegan Petersen, and Lungi Ngidi to register figures of 5/42.
