Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was in awe of the brilliant hundred from Travis Head on Day 2 of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.

Head came in at a time when the Englishmen had their tails up because of a few quick wickets. Till Tea, the left-hander didn’t face a single delivery before leaving a lasting impact in the final session. The Aussie smashed a stunning 85-ball century that firmly put Australia in control.

Appreciating the knock from Head, Vaughan tweeted: “That’s a very special innings from Travis Head .. An #Ashes Ton we will remember for a long time.”

Head was particularly devastating against Jack Leach, who endured a horrendous day in the field with the ball. Leach bowled 11 overs where he conceded a whopping 95 runs, claiming the solitary wicket of Marnus Labuschagne.

David Warner showers praise on Travis Head

Fellow teammate David Warner further praised Head’s tremendous knock that has paved the way for a certain win on the cards for the Aussies. Warner himself scored 94 before being done in by a wonderfully disguised slower ball from Ollie Robinson.

They did bowl well, didn’t they? They were relentless. What an entertaining innings by Travis . We’ve got smiles on our faces. It’s got to be up there for him personally. It was a tight battle with him and Uzzie but to come out the way he did… that’s the Travis we know,” Warner told Fox.

Robinson was the pick of the bowlers for England, taking three wickets on the day. Heading into Day 3, the visitors will be keen to wrap up the Australian innings quickly.
