ODI cricket is slightly on the wane since the advent and emergence of T20 cricket. However, throughout the 70, 80, the 90s and early 2000s, it was a big part of international cricket. Like Test cricket, Sachin Tendulkar tops the run-getters list in ODI cricket as well. Overall he has scored 18426 runs in 463 matches with 49 hundreds and 96 fifties to his name. The Little Master has almost all the batting records to his name., He tops the list of ODI century makers, has the most fifties in the format, has played the most international matches and scored the most runs in ODI and Test cricket.

Kumar Sangakkara- 14234 Runs In 404 Matches

The former Sri Lankan skipper is also amongst the top run-scorers in Test and ODI cricket. He ranks second in the list of ODI run-getters with more than 14000 runs in over 400 matches. This includes 25 hundreds and as many as 93 fifties.

Ricky Ponting- 13704 Runs In 375 Matches

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting ranks third in this elite list of run-scorers. He has scored 13704 runs with 30 centuries and 82 fifties to his name. Besides all his batting records he was a part of three World-Cup winning Australian squads with two of them as captain.

Sanath Jayasuriya- 13430 In 445 ODIs

Jayasuriya is the second Lankan cricketer in this list. He was one of the batsmen from the past era who gave nightmares to the best of bowlers throughout the 90s and the early 2000s. He formed a terrific opening pair with Romesh Kaluwitrana throughout the 90s and changed the look of batting inside the first 20 to 15 overs.

Jayawardene almost played 450 ODIs for Sri Lanka in an era when ODI cricket was very popular. Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Jayasuriya along with Tittakratne Dilshan formed the batting core of Sri Lanka during that phase and scored against every opposition. The right-hander ended his career with 19 centuries and 77 fifties. He also scored a century in the 2011 World Cup final against India, albeit in a losing cause.

Virat Kohli- 12311 in 260 Matches

The former Indian skipper is one among the modern greats across formats. He scored these runs at the fastest rate and broken and notched up several batting records to his name. 2016-2019 remains the best phase of Kohli’s career so far when he scored runs for sun cross formats. He scored his last international century in November 2019 and his last ODI ton in August 2019.

The former Pakistan skipper ranks seventh in the list of most run-getters in ODI cricket. He is also the highest run-getters among Pakistani players. Inzamam was one of those languid players who scored runs even in the most toughest of conditions and oppositions. He ended his career with 11739 runs with 10 hundreds and 83 fifties.

Kallis is the only South African cricketer in this list. Overall, he ranks eighth in the list of most run-getters in ODI cricket. He scored 11739 runs with 17 tons and 86 fifties. He is also considered among the best all-rounders the game of cricket has ever seen. Apart from his runs, he has picked 273 ODI wickets as well.

Sourav Ganguly- 11363 Runs in 311 Matches

The former Indian skipper along with Rahul Dravid are the last two players in this list. Ganguly scored 11363 runs with 22 centuries and 72 fifties to his name. He retired from the game back in 2008. In 2019 he was appointed as the BCCI President and is still serving at that post. Under him, India played the first Pink-Ball Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Dravid is the last name in this elite list of players with most runs in ODI cricket. He scored 10889 runs with 13 centuries and 83 fifties. He retired from the game in 2011 and is now the head coach of the Indian cricket team. He succeeded Ravi Shastri after the ICC T20 World Cup in October
