India will host West Indies for a three-match ODI and a three-match T20I series from February 06-February 20 after returning from South Africa. The IND vs WI ODI series will be played in Ahmedabad. The T20I games will be played between February 16-20 at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. The schedule has been changed in the wake of the rapid rise in the number of Covid cases throughout the country.

Recently India played a Test series followed by an ODI series against South Africa. They lost both the Test and the ODI series and in the process, a lot of questions cropped up in terms of team selection and personnel. The squads for the home series against West Indies will be announced in a few days’ time.

Ahead of the same, here is a look at three players who can be dropped from the ODI series given their poor performance against South Africa.

Bhuvi has performed well below his potential in the way series against South Africa. He was not even in the top 10 list of wicket-takers for the series. Along with the bad form, the veteran Indian pacer has been struggling with injuries for the last two years. Bhuvi might be axed from the white-ball series against West Indies firstly due to his poor form and secondly as a part of the team’s rotation policy with the bowlers.

Chahal also had a poor series with the ball. He picked up just two wickets in the three games and did not look at his best. The Protean batsman kept sweeping him from the stumps to which he did not have a counter delivery. He also went for over six runs per over and did not take wickets in the middle-overs.

Taking wickets in the middle overs was something he was good at with MS Dhoni behind the stumps and that has been one of his problems now. The BCCI can give a chance to Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy in his place against the West Indies.

Prasidh Krishna

Prasidh played just one game in the ODI series against South Africa. He is yet to make a mark in his international career. With India having several pace bowling options and people who are better at their job than Krishna, the Karnataka pacer might have to face the axe in the ODI series and perhaps the T20I series as well.
